Roger Grimes

Well known and respected former Premier (L), President of Newfoundland and Labrador’s
Teachers Union, teacher, and educator. His role as Premier (2001-2003) was accentuated with his move
to make government accountable and transparent through overhauling the Freedom of Information Act.
He was responsible for lowering university tuition, renegotiate the equalization formula with Ottawa
and reopen talks on the Voisey Bay Nickel Development Project. His achievements were great despite a
short term in office.

Dr. Paul Snelgrove

Network Director, NSERC Canadian Healthy Oceans Network II, Associate
Director of Ocean Frontier Institute, University Research Professor Depart. of Ocean Sciences and
Biology Dept. at Memorial University, he is a graduate of Memorial university, McGill University and
Wood’s Hole/MIT. The world-renowned researcher and lecturer on the marine species of the earth’s oceans.

Adam Goby

Pres. and CEO of SULIS Subsea Corporation. His passion for research into Marine
Robotics and Optics have taken him around the world and on work with James Cameron (Titanic fame) on
the famous DeepSea Challenge Project. His underwater camera, the Z 70, has proven indispensable for
its clarity and precision in extreme depths helping to identify new marine species. With an academic
background in engineering, computer science and oceanography his Research and Development are
quickly becoming world-renowned.

Dr. Andrew Furey

Dr. Andrew Furey – Newfoundland born and educated works as the Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon at Eastern Health, Associate Professor at Memorial Medical school, Founder, President and CEO of Team Broken Earth, and recipient of numerous awards such as MUN Alumnus of the Year 2012, Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year Award for NL 2017, Gonzaga Alumnus of the Year 2014 and St. Bon’s Ignation Spirit Award 2015. His tireless efforts to assist those around the world in need of medical attention stemming from natural disasters is inspiring. Always working to improve our way of life at home through his surgical expertise and involvement with politics demonstrates an individual of unique character.

Comedienne, actress, director, producer and writer. Her award-winning plays and reputation precede her wherever she performs. Her many years spent serving as President of the NL branch of ACTRA, The Status of the Artistic Committee NL, The Board of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatre (PACT) and past 14 years as the Artistic Animateur of the RCA Theatre Company at the LSPU Hall are indicative of her tireless efforts to promote the arts.

Ed Hollett is a public relations and public policy professional with more than 25 years experience in both the public and the private sector. Ed studied political science, history and policy development at Memorial University and as a civilian graduate student at the Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston. Since January 2005, Ed has been writing The Sir Robert Bond Papers,  the longest-running and most widely-read blog on politics and public policy in Newfoundland and Labrador

Dr. Wade Locke

Professor and Head of the Faculty of Economics with Memorial University. He has
written and advised on the economic state of our natural resources and assisted all levels of
government as well as private industry. Few have more knowledge on Newfoundland’s resource-based
industry.

Arthur O’Brien

Award winning musician, singer and writer. He has played throughout
Newfoundland, Canada and the United States to rave reviews. A soloist as well as a founder of the
Folk/Irish band The Navigators his incredible voice and mastery on both guitar and fiddle places him
among one our most notable talents.

Bernie Stapleton

Joanne Mcdonald (OC, PhD)

Newfoundland and Canada on the international stage garnishing 61 medals and numerous world
records. Her various awards included national recognition such as the Order of Canada and Honorary
Doctorate from Memorial University. Following her years as a successful athlete and coach she work
with government to improve the lives of disabled people and create better communication.
