Noreen Golfman

Dr. Noreen Golfman is provost and vice-president (academic) of Memorial University. She served as dean of the School of Graduate Studies at Memorial from June 2008 to September 2014, when she was appointed provost and vice-president (academic) pro tempore. Under Dr. Golfman’s leadership, the School of Graduate Studies experienced tremendous growth. In the last decade, the number of graduate students has doubled to a total of 3,565 graduate students.

Peter Halley

Peter Halley is the artistic director of the renowned Spirit of Newfoundland and Labrador
acting and musical group. While producing and executing plays, musicals, and shows since January of
1997, Peter Halley has also been involved in many artistic endeavors across Canada and has helped to
grow the local artistic scene in Newfoundland & Labrador for several years.

Roger Grimes

Well known and respected former Premier (L), President of Newfoundland and Labrador’s
Teachers Union, teacher, and educator. His role as Premier (2001-2003) was accentuated with his move
to make government accountable and transparent through overhauling the Freedom of Information Act.
He was responsible for lowering university tuition, renegotiate the equalization formula with Ottawa
and reopen talks on the Voisey Bay Nickel Development Project. His achievements were great despite a
short term in office.

Dr. Paul Snelgrove

Network Director, NSERC Canadian Healthy Oceans Network II, Associate
Director of Ocean Frontier Institute, University Research Professor Depart. of Ocean Sciences and
Biology Dept. at Memorial University, he is a graduate of Memorial university, McGill University and
Wood’s Hole/MIT. The world-renowned researcher and lecturer on the marine species of the earth’s oceans.

Adam Goby

Pres. and CEO of SULIS Subsea Corporation. His passion for research into Marine
Robotics and Optics have taken him around the world and on work with James Cameron (Titanic fame) on
the famous DeepSea Challenge Project. His underwater camera, the Z 70, has proven indispensable for
its clarity and precision in extreme depths helping to identify new marine species. With an academic
background in engineering, computer science and oceanography his Research and Development are
quickly becoming world-renowned.
