Born in St. John’s, Michael has built a distinguished career and solid reputation in the areas of accounting, corporate and financial law. He obtained his business education at Memorial University and has been a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1975. In 1984, he received his Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in Halifax and was admitted to the Newfoundland Bar in 1985. For several years he practiced corporate and commercial law at a partnership level in 1997, commenced practice as a sole practitioner of law in the specialized areas of corporate finance, business and trusts, securities and taxation. Michael actively lectures topics of financial law for Memorial University as well as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Newfoundland and Labrador.
